Customer Support Technician (Needham MA)

The Customer Support Technician is responsible for providing technical assistance and sysadmin capabilities to both Priority5 customers and employees.  The position calls for a combination of customer-facing help desk, product installation and configuration skills as well as systems administration skills to install, configure, and maintain networks and CentOS/PostgreSQL n-tier servers in support of company operations and both pre- and post-sales technical support.  The position reports directly to the Director of Customer Support in the Needham MA office.  Occasional travel to both domestic and foreign customer sites may be required.

The applicant will be challenged to develop expert level proficiency with the cutting-edge capabilities of a suite of situational awareness applications that cross traditional boundaries between high performance 3D enabled graphics, GIS, client-server deployment, infrastructure modeling, and decision support analytics.  Previous exposure to emergency management or operations center environments is a major plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to and troubleshoot IT support requests related to the Priority 5 system;
  • Install, configure, and maintain Priority 5 server and client side software both in-house and on-site;
  • Assist with data integration, conversion, and manipulation projects;
  • Participate in application demonstrations, QA/QC and user training;


  • A bachelor’s degree in a field related to Information Technology, Software/Network Engineering or Computer Science preferred;
  • Experience in a technical customer support role or a Linux systems administration role a plus;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US government public trust clearance;
  • PostgreSQL or other RDBMS experience is a plus,;
  • Scripting or programming experience is a plus, especially shell scripting, SQL, Python.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools and standards is a plus, especially KML, ESRI, Postgis, OSM, Google Earth.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative, small team environment;
  • Domestic and international travel required

We have developed a real-time desktop application unlike any other that provides a 3D GIS environment, an interactive windowing system, and a common application platform. The application builds upon back-end services to provide a collaborative common operating picture across multiple systems. We develop real-time rich internet applications for mobile and desktop devices using the latest HTML5 and Javascript technologies. These applications push the limits of what current systems and technologies support. Testing Lead (Ames, IA)

We develop software using high quality standards and methods. We have a test-first mentality that requires automated integration tests for all parts of the system and we would like to expand this further to improve our standard of quality.
